Feature Request: Tax Return Delivery Packet
Please add a Tax Return Delivery Packet feature to Financial Cents, similar in concept to TaxDome, so firms can deliver completed returns through one organized client experience.
The packet should allow firms to:
Bundle documents: Include the completed return, filing instructions, payment vouchers, estimated tax schedules, and supporting documents.
Display tax due or refund: Provide a clear summary of federal and state balances due or expected refunds, with payment deadlines and instructions. Clearly distinguish tax payments from the firm’s invoice.
Show estimated tax payments: Display each federal and state estimated payment amount, its due date, and the corresponding payment voucher or payment link.
Require client approval: Allow clients to review the packet and approve it or request changes before proceeding to payment.
Require payment before signatures: After approval, prompt the client to pay the firm’s invoice. Release signature requests only after payment is confirmed.
Collect signatures: Request electronic signatures on eligible documents, including separate signature requests for spouses when applicable.
Send automated reminders: Offer customizable reminders for tax balances due, upcoming estimated tax payments, and incomplete approval, invoice payment, or signature steps. Allow clients to mark tax payments as paid and stop reminders for completed payments.
Control document access: Allow clients to review the return for approval while reserving designated final downloads until required steps are complete.
Track delivery: Show whether the packet has been sent, viewed, approved, paid, signed, and downloaded.
Use reusable templates: Support firm branding, standard cover letters, customizable checklists, and templates for different return types.
Connect to workflows: Update the client’s project as delivery steps are completed, while tracking e-file submission and acceptance separately.
Required client sequence: Review → Approve → Pay the firm’s invoice → Sign → Download the final packet.
Business value: This would reduce manual assembly and follow-up work, ensure payment before signature collection, and help clients understand their tax results and stay on top of payment deadlines.
