Push Changes to Templates to Existing Projects
Amanda Aparicio
This will allow you to push the changes or improvements made to a template to all the projects that were previously created by that template.
This will make it easy to update and improve your workflow checklists over time as your process changes.

Ability to add team task to projects

When a new Team task is added to a template, It should automatically appear in all active projects already using that template, so that project lists stay consistent without requiring manual updates.

Ability for updates to a project template to apply to existing projects

This would allow an option to apply changes made in a template to all projects that are currently assigned to it, improving efficiencies and saving time spent having to delete/re-assign projects to the new template, having to re-link resources, upload files, etc.

This is a huge feature desperately needed!! It is very time consuming to have to change the template for each existing client.

Amanda Aparicio I noticed this item was no longer marked as Planned. Is this no longer in the pipeline?
Amanda Aparicio
Jaime Keegstra, great question! We've been looking at a potential solution for this one, but it turned out to be a bit more complicated than anticipated. As a result, we're brainstorming some different options for how to solve this pain point -- stay tuned! We'll be keeping this updated as we go!

Amanda Aparicio Hi Amanda, I think the simplest implementation would be for a new selection from the "Action" dropdown in a project called "Update from Template" a popup would come up with a dropdown of all available templates.
To do it in bulk from the Projects screen, search or otherwise filter in bulk the project to narrow down the list. Bulk select the projects to be updated, and the "Bulk Actions" Menu [already existing] have the same option "Update from Template'

Steve Tsonev, if we go that route, what would you expect to stay as-is from the original project and what to update from the template? For example, should we update all Team Tasks and Client Tasks, but keep all project settings? Or should we keep all Team Tasks and Client Tasks as-is and "tack on" the additional sections to the bottom of the project? Curious what your thoughts are!

Amanda Aparicio Hey there, I expected the team and client tasks would be replaced but I actually like the idea of adding them to the bottom because if there is a unique task in the original project I can just drag and drop it in the right spot, and delete everything I don't need. About the project settings I don't expect them to change

Steve Tsonev, I guess the worry about that is then you'd have a lot of manual clean up on each project. So, for example, suppose you have a project with 5 sections (each with 10 tasks).
If you then update the template to modify a few tasks and/or sections, the existing projects would now have 10 sections (which you would then need to go in and delete the ones you don't want, move what you do want, etc.).
That seems like a lot of steps, but maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying 😅

Amanda Aparicio That’s true. I sent it in my original message expecting it to replace all the content. Initially, that was my vision; after your pitch, I realized it would be even better if we could preserve any client-specific customizations so nothing is lost or has to be recreated. Maybe the answer is to give an option. A pop-up with "Would you like to replace the existing content or add template to the end?"
