For either vendors when providing W-9s, or for clients when uploading documents, give them the option to use their phone camera to "scan" the file (similar to bank apps that let you "scan" your check to deposit it)

Clients will often take individual photos of tax documents, sometimes with poor lighting, missing edges, or pages uploaded out of order. This becomes especially difficult when a client is sending something like a paper copy of a prior-year tax return that may be dozens of pages long.
The alternative is usually asking the client to download a third-party scanning app, scan everything into a PDF, save the file, and then figure out how to upload it to Financial Cents. For less tech-savvy clients, that adds several unnecessary steps and often requires us to walk them through the process.
A Financial Cents client mobile app with a built-in document scanner could solve this.
Ideally, a client could:
Sign into their client portal.
- Open a document request from their task list.
- Tap Scan Document from their phone.
- Scan multiple pages using automatic edge detection and image correction, similar to Adobe Scan or other mobile scanning apps.
- Rearrange or remove pages before submitting.
- Automatically combine the scanned pages into a single PDF.
- Upload that PDF directly to the associated Financial Cents document request.
This would keep the entire process inside Financial Cents instead of requiring clients to use a separate scanning application and then transfer the resulting file.
I realize a dedicated mobile app and built-in scanner would be a much larger development project than a typical feature request and it may require too many resources to implement, but I think it could substantially improve the client document collection process.

This exact feature was why we held off for over a year from transitioning away from Liscio. We finally decided we get more from Financial Cents, but I miss this feature as do my clients. Having this capture capability is crucial for our small business owners wearing 17 hats.

Clients can upload docs with phone camera already - is scanning different than this? If it creates a better pdf and cuts out the background - I vote yes!
