Would it be possible to get a notification within the client portal that if they change their payment processing to a credit card that they will incur the processing fee going forward on all future payments? I had a client that I had set up for ACH only payments that subsequently went in and changed their default payment method to a credit card in their portal which will change how the recurring payments are processed but since there is no notification they are not aware that they may be charged the additional fee. According to bot help:
"For autopay, clients receive an initial invoice notification for the first payment with autopay consent disclaimer, but no additional notifications are sent prior to collecting subsequent recurring payments. They do receive email receipts after each payment is processed, which would show the processing fee after it's charged."
Not being notified ahead of time could be an issue. I just happened to stumble across the fact that he changed it. He'd be completely unaware of the additional charge since he changed it after the fact and only seeing it after payment is processed on the receipt is an issue.
"Merchants imposing credit card surcharges must follow strict disclosure and procedural requirements. They must clearly notify customers of any added fees before the transaction, typically through signage at the point of sale and itemized receipts. Credit card networks mandate that these disclosures be conspicuous to prevent unexpected charges."
This is not possible to meet if I set it up as ACH only (at time of signing) and they subsequently change it since there is no notification at the time they change it in the portal, only after it's been processed.
