I would to have an automation option to send an email out to my client as soon as the project is created/opened, so that when a monthly recurrance happens it automatically asks the client for the info I need before I need to review the project and manually ask for it.

This feature already exists! If you schedule your Client Task to send on the 1st of the month and select the "Recalculate date when projects recurs" then it will automatically send on the 1st of the next month.
