Client Portal Update

I am hoping that there will be some focus on updated the layout and features related to the Client Portal. There is so much potential there and I would really like to see clients having a more visually appealing layout when logging on.

Miller Wallace, curious what your thoughts are! Is there something in particular that sticks out that needs addressing in the client portal? (like a specific page or experience)

I think there are a couple features that could enhance the client portal experience for clients and for firm owners. A couple things would be:
1) The ability for a client to switch between entities using one email address for login. They would login using their primary contact email (which we would enter for all entities/client files related to that person) and then be able to switch "profiles" (more or less thats what they are) between any client files they have with us. On the b2b side, its common for one client to own and operate multiple businesses, each with their own information. Or, for those who run tax firms, your client may have both personal returns plus business bookkeeping or other services that should be separated out. It would be convenient for the client to only have to remember one email address for login and then switch from there.
2) A feature where the client can update their demographic information from the portal. Things like any business name changes, address, phone number, add emails, EIN, tax status update, or even submitting a request for us to add a new authorized contact would be nice.
3) View scheduled invoices. Something I enjoy as a consumer is the ability to view any upcoming payments that are scheduled and be allowed to make early payments. It would be nice if our clients also had this ability to view any upcoming autopay, be allowed to pay early if desired, and have a "contact/request" link if they have questions or need to make arrangements for that invoice in particular (which would start a chat with the firm rep noting that its specifically related to that invoice number and includes the message that client provided, etc).
Thanks :)

Arielle Helkowski, got it! For the first item, could you kindly clarify? Today, you have the ability to add the same email address to multiple clients. When that client logins, they'll then be able to see information for all clients they've been given access to. For example, in the screenshot below, my test email has access to three different clients.
Is this view preferred? Or would it be preferred to have a "client selector" when logging in so that anytime I click into one of the tabs, it's stuff for JUST the selected client? (and then how come one is preferred over the other?)
Thank you for taking the time to respond!

Amanda Aparicio Thanks for sharing that screenshot, I hadn't been able to find information on that previously and it's good to know.
With that in mind, does the system also show that sort of view for other areas of the Client Portal? Such as the Billing screen allowing them to choose which Business invoice they have upcoming or is due, as well as Client Chat and transactions? Or is it all put together with each individual item stating which business its for?
If the latter and things are all together with only the individual items that may be too cluttered and can be confusing to the client. In that case, a more streamlined Profile-like experience would make their experience better.

Arielle Helkowski: Anytime! For other areas of the client portal, it's similar in that everything is in one place, but labelled by client. Here's some additional screenshots in case that's helpful at all!
I think the only concern with a more "profile" like experience is that clients might not realize that they need to swap to the other profile to find something, if that makes sense, whereas in the "combined" view, clients can see the little red notification on each area where they need to take action. We'll definitely need to think through it!

Amanda Aparicio Thanks for the screen shots, that helps a lot! I'll keep that in mind for my multi-entity clients.
I suppose with that in mind my biggest recommendation for the portal would be the ability for the client to make updates to their demographic data and have that update the file accordingly (some sort of an audit log for those changes would be great for keeping track as well to reference back).
Thanks for your clarifications :)

Arielle Helkowski, anytime!! And thank you for going through the details with me -- it's very helpful!
